Defiende Venezuela promotes the Programa Transforma to strengthen the role of human rights violation victims as agents of change. The goal is to bring visibility to the human rights situation in Venezuela and obtain justice through international protection mechanisms. This is a unique initiative in the country, consisting of training in effective international human rights advocacy and providing accompaniment in filing complaints before international human rights protection bodies.

How do we do it?
Through the training curriculum designed by expert professionals in the following areas:
National Justice System
Theoretical and practical knowledge is provided regarding the functioning and processes within the Venezuelan national jurisdiction. These steps must be taken to resort to international justice mechanisms and, additionally, to maintain pressure before local authorities.
Social Media and Digital Tools
This module focuses on instruction regarding the uses of various social media networks and the construction of a communication strategy. Participants will also be trained in the use of easy-access digital tools for content creation.
International Justice System
It consists of reinforcing fundamental aspects of human rights and international criminal law to understand the structure and functioning of the different mechanisms available for finding justice. Additionally, it aims to familiarize participants with the technical language employed.
Strategic Activism
This module aims to provide participants with various tools for the strategic planning of the initiatives they seek to promote. They are trained in the SMART methodology; situational analysis; agenda building; diagnostic of resources; and proposal construction.
Memory, Truth, and Justice
Through a human rights perspective, it aims to convey the landscape of how memory and justice are shaped; the tensions inherent in the processes of forming collective memory from traumatic and conflictive events; and forms of reparation: material and symbolic, archives, memorial sites, narratives, memory, and testimony.
Security
Considering the high risks involved in the defense of human rights in Venezuela and the intention for participants to conduct effective international advocacy, best practices will be shared and instruction will be provided on the use of security tools for human rights defenders.
Assertive Communication and Public Speaking
The objective of this module is to strengthen oral and persuasive expression skills in a practical way through the development of a testimonial speech.
Self-care Strategies and Psychological Accompaniment
This module aims to provide knowledge, tools, and strategies that allow participants to reflect on the importance of mental health and identify psychological risk situations. In conjunction with this module, the possibility of receiving psychological treatment from mental health professionals is enabled.
