Yandir Guanergel Loggiodice Ayala is a civil engineer and Venezuelan political leader affiliated with democratic opposition sectors. Following a period in hiding due to political persecution, he was arbitrarily detained on July 14, 2025, in Bolívar state by officials of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (SEBIN). According to public reports and testimonies from his family, around 30 agents forced their way into his residence, causing material damage and assaulting family members. Prior to his arrest, Yandir had publicly denounced the persecution against him, holding the Venezuelan state responsible for any harm to himself or his family and reaffirming his commitment to the democratic struggle and his support for opposition leader María Corina Machado. His detention was widely denounced by human rights organizations and political allies as part of a systematic pattern of criminalizing political dissent in Venezuela. Following months of imprisonment characterized by isolation and severe concerns regarding his health—specifically related to a congenital condition requiring medical intervention—he has since been released, continuing to advocate for human rights and the freedom of remaining political prisoners in the country.
