Luis Manuel Vieira Camacho, a cadet at the Military Academy of the Army, was arbitrarily detained on February 6, 2025, alongside ten other cadets during an operation conducted by officials of the Directorate General of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM). According to the testimony of his father, Luis Manuel Vieira Rodríguez, the young men were violently removed from their classrooms, beaten, and initially transferred to the Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base (La Carlota), where they were reportedly tortured before remaining in DGCIM custody. Two days later, they were sent to the Rodeo I Judicial Penitentiary, where they were deprived of their liberty. Their families denounced that the eleven cadets were accused without evidence of belonging to an alleged conspiratory military movement, noting that the case originated from their participation in matches of the video game Call of Duty, a fact that the authorities allegedly used to support the charges. Human rights organizations denounced serious due process violations and the criminalization of the young military personnel. On February 23, 2026, following the approval of the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence, the eleven cadets were released alongside other political prisoners, publicly stating that they were innocent and that their fundamental rights had been violated throughout the entire process.
